Discussion:
Squeezebox Radio: Line-in input falling asleep / becoming disabled?

I have a few Squeezebox Radios (being serviced by a Synology NAS)... it
is a pretty amazing setup - I love these radios!...

...except for one problem. One of my Squeezebox Radios doubles as a
computer speaker via the line-in cable. (Actually, this is its primary
purpose these days: the line-in jack has been connected to the
headphones port on the dock for my notebook computer for a couple of
months.) However, I find that if I'm not using the line-in jack for a
while - e.g., when I remove my notebook from the dock, and return the
next day - then it will no longer recognize input from the line-in
jack. This is odd: the Logitech Radio continues to display that it's in
Line-In mode, and there is clearly audio coming down the wire... but
there is no sound from the Radio.

There is a simple way to restore sound: I can unplug the Line-In cable
from the port on the back of the Radio and plug it right back in - at
which point sound immediately resumes.

This is probably related to the power-saving feature: I have the Radio
set to turn off after (x) minutes of silence/inactivity. However, the
problem isn't as simple as just turning it on: hitting the power button
turns the device on, but there's still no audio from Line-In until I
unplug it and plug it back in.

So I'm guessing that this is a bug with the power-saving feature of the
Radio: it seems like when the Radio returns from power-saving mode, it
fails to route the audio in from the Line-In jack if it's present, and
the routing can only be restored by resetting the routing through an
unplug/replug of the Line-In jack.

Thoughts? Thanks...

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, only a ques.

How do you set up "the Radio set to turn off after (x) minutes of
silence/inactivity." I seem to have completely missed this feature. I
saw the sleep timer and clock/display settings but I missed an auto off
feature or power save feature.

Your only options are:
- set Sleep timer, select xx minutes to go into Standby even if
currently playing
- set Idle time, if nothing playing and no menu/button navigation for
xx seconds it goes into Standby

I think the OP wants one of those (preferably Idle time) to actually
turn OFF the Radio, not just go into Standby. Currently not possible,
AFAIK.

If you set your Standby to be a blank screen it cannot be consuming
more than a couple of watts, I wouldn't sweat it. ;)

Ahhh...., OK, set idle time, I'll look for that. Missed it before
somehow.

Yes, by "turn off," I meant Standby. That's how I have my Radios
configured, and I'm fine with that.

My problem is that when my Radio comes out of standby, it fails to
receive audio through the Line-In port until I physically unplug it and
plug it back in.

Ideas?

Adding a +1 for this... I'd like to know as well, as I just started
doing the same thing with my Squeezebox Radio.

Although it is written in geek so I am not perfectly sure, there seems
to be a bug opened for this problem:
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13895. However, it's
priority is currently quite low and is not assigned to a tech.

Both of you who are having trouble with this issue may want to go to
bugzilla (see URL above) and "vote" for this bug and add your comments
so that its priority may be raised.
